Patrice Limousin and Freya Skoda, Jurançon winegrowers
Their visionary project took shape when Patrice Limousin ( young wine maker from the Muscadet AOC) and Freya Skoda ( German student, originally from Berlin and then only 20 years old ) met in the 1980's.
Their dream was to create a wine farm on a human scale in an area of unspoilt natural beauty, whilst still remaining open to a diverse and ever changing world.
The Jurançon "appellation" with its small farms, its unique grapes and its varied and sometimes wild landscapes, seemed to the couple, coming from such different worlds, to be an ideal spot for their project.
So in 1988 Patrice Limousin and Freya Skoda bought an abandoned domaine, replanted the vines, restored the 18th century house and built a cellar and wine basement in the existing farm.Their original vision has now come to fruition ! The evidence is there at the Domaine de Cabarrouy, wherever you look.
" We wish to be part of the perpetuation of a precious cultural and natural tradition. At the same time we are unable to resist new and creative ideas. "
